Bascom’s family settled in the lower Keys in 1908, when Bascom Grooms Sr. moved to Key West to take the helm of the Key West Electric Company as President of that enterprise. A Seasoned Local Business Person and Generous Community Leader

Bascom began his career in Key West real estate in 1997 shortly after returning to the island from college. Finding a true passion for helping folks fulfill their dreams of a perfect home in America’s only Caribbean paradise, Bascom soon began working toward his real estate broker’s license. After becoming a broker in 1999, he launched Bascom Grooms Real Estate from a small office above The Bike Shop, his parents’ business on Truman Avenue in downtown Key West.
 
As Bascom’s team of professional Real Estate Agent grew, the company needed more space and Bascom moved the office to 1102 White Street, across from Fausto’s market. It was not long at all before Bascom Grooms Real Estate became a top-producing Key West real estate brokerage. In 2008, the White Street office was damaged in a severe fire, and the firm moved to its present home at 1716 N. Roosevelt Boulevard, just off Garrison Bight in the heart of Key West.
 
With over $29 million in sales for 2018, Bascom ranked #4 out of over 400 Key West Real Estate Agent in closed residential property sales.
Bascom has achieved much and earned many accolades in his decades in the top circles of Key West Real Estate Agent and community business leaders. He has served as President of the Key West Association of REALTORS®Inc, The Key West Chamber of Commerce, and The Rotary Club of Key West. In addition to taking on such leadership positions, Bascom volunteers time to many local boards and committees and is very active in the American Youth Soccer Organization and at The Basilica School of St. Mary Star of the Sea. 
 
Bascom often appears in local media and was featured on the HGTV series House Hunters in 2014 and again in January 2020. The episodes highlighted Bascom's work with families looking for the ideal Key West home, something he describes as a favorite part of being a Real Estate Agent.
